January Book List

Here is a list of books I've read in January 2009

1. Arthur For the Very First Time
by Patricia MacLahlan
I didn't really like this book. It's not bad, it just was not very interesting. It was about this boy Arthur who gets a girl to call him Arthur for the very first time.

2. The Silver Chair
by C.S. Lewis
This is the 4th book in the Chronicles of Narnia series (If you count it the old way!). Good book! I like it, but I would read the other books in the series first. The Silver Chair was about how Prince Rilian escaped from the Jade Witch's underground kingdom.

3. Who would want to kill Hallie Pankey's cat?
by G. Majors
I liked it. It is about a girl (Hallie) who is protecting her cat from a mystery person who Hallie thinks is trying to poison her cat.

4. Overload
by Cheryl Crouch
This is one of the books in the Chosen Girls series. It's about three girls who start a Christian rock band. In this book one of the girls starts her own grief recovery group and has trouble balancing everything.

5. The Fairy's Mistake
by Gail Carson Levine
This is one I enjoyed reading. In The Fairy's Mistake, two sisters have different encounters with the fairy Ethelinda. Rosella is kind and works hard. Her reward: Jewels and gems tumble out of her mouth whenever she speaks. Myrtle is rude. Her punishment: Bugs come out of her mouth. The fairy Ethelinda feels she's done a good thing--until she discovers Rosella has been locked up and Myrtle is having the time of her life!

6. Holly's Heart collection 2
by Beverly Lewis
LOVE IT!!! The Holly's Heart series is my favorite series of books. Holly is a 12-year-old girl that lives with her mom and her sister Carrie. Holly has a cool birthday, Valentines Day! Her mom and dad divorced when Holly was 8 and she doesn't think she will ever be able to forgive her dad for leaving. Her family just accepted Jesus and she knows she should try to forgive her dad. Collection 2 has the following books: Second Best Friend, Good-bye Dressel Hills, Straight-A Teacher, No Guys Pact, Little White Lies.

7. Redcoats and Petticoats
by Katherine Kirpatrick
This story is based on the Setauket Spy Ring that operated on Long Island from 1778-1784. Thomas' father is arrested and his mother is acting strange by sending him to dangerous places. What is going on?
